Clinical sites in INNODIA are healthcare centers providing care to people with T1D of any age and at any stage of the disease. Clinical site roles in the INNODIA Network:

  • Referral & Outreach Site (Core Level) – Sites that are committed to identifying and referring eligible patients to nearby INNODIA trial cencters. This is the foundational requirement to be part of the INNODIA Clinical Site Network.
  • Clinical Trial Site – In addition to referring patients, these sites are also involved in running clinical trials with life-changing therapies. They may act as first-line recruiting centers or refer patients to other INNODIA sites when appropriate.
  • Early Detection Site – These sites contribute to the early identification of T1D patients through the INNODIA screening program.

Research & Mechanistic Laboratories – focusing on understanding the fundamental biological processes that lead T1D and are equipped to perform high-quality mechanistic studies to investigate how specific interventions affect biological systems.

Pre-clinical Laboratories – evaluating the safety, efficacy, and pharmacokinetics of potential therapeutic compounds before they are tested in humans. They often work closely with translational teams and operate under Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) or equivalent quality systems ensuring consistency, reliability, and reproducibility in non-clinical safety studies.

Accredited laboratories (e.g. ISO 15189) routinely performing validated diagnostic tests relevant to T1D. This includes also laboratories developing novel diagnostic tests or biomarker-based assays intended for future clinical application.
